It's hard to say for sure whether a clean install would be better than a regular one. However, a fresh setup doesn’t erase everything on your system. You can safely save your files and downloads to another drive or external storage, then reformat the old drive. If you're not confident, disconnect any other connected drives to avoid accidental formatting. Before starting, remember this advice has been done before, but make sure the cooling system is secure, the screws are tight, the fan isn’t blocked, and there’s enough airflow inside the case.
You might need to purchase a new key if your Windows 10 was originally based on a Windows 7 key that required updating.
Select "I don't have a product key" at setup and it will reinitialize.
