I've been using a Ryzen 5 3600 with the default cooler for a few weeks and have experienced stutters during demanding gameplay, especially in Borderlands 3. My temperatures were around 65-70°C when idle, but stress tests showed thermal throttling at higher loads (temperatures spiking to 90°C with reduced performance). I changed coolers before and after using Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut paste, but the issue persists. Disabling PBO in BIOS didn’t help either. All system updates are current, and even with the stock cooler, temperatures feel unusually high, affecting overall performance. I’m hoping the Arctic Freezer ii 280 will be available soon, but I’m looking for ways to manage temps until then.

Review the bios if the measurements seem incorrect. Verify the cooler is in contact with the IHS and that it's properly installed.

Consider adjusting your CPU core voltage to 1.32v and observe the temperature changes. It’s possible it could cause overvoltage, as similar setups have pushed voltages higher than 1.4v consistently. The first board was resolved by updating the BIOS.

I refreshed the cooler today, feeling sure it’s fine. My BIOS is current. Verified on May 28, 2020 by DaBongoMan. Confirmed a newer version exists.

I wasn't starting from scratch; it's not a brand new setup. I'm running MSI Afterburner just to verify, while OCCT is being used for stress testing.
