I have this setup and it’s limiting performance. I’m looking for a CPU that won’t cause bottlenecks when paired with my GTX 1060 3GB. Should I recommend the i5 7600K or the Ryzen 1600X? Please think about what will work best in the long run.

They are similar in terms of the new mobo and RAM required for both. Calculate the expenses and determine what suits you best.

From Ricky_92:
I have several components in my PC, but it’s limiting performance. I’m looking for a CPU that won’t cause bottlenecks, especially with my Asus GTX 1060 3GB. I need to decide between the i5 7600K and Ryzen 1600X. Please take into account future upgrades as well...
Thanks in advance.

The 1600X offers little value since you already spend extra on a CPU without stock, and then more for a decent aftermarket HSF. If you intend to overclock, it will bring you close to that level for $60 less.

Is it possible to increase the clock speed of the Ryzen 1600 using the included cooler?

Ricky_92:
- Asus M5A97 LE R2 0 Motherboard
- Amd FX 4300 bulldozer
- Asus gtx 1060 3gb dual oc DDR5 graphics card
- Kingston hyperx 8gb 1600mhz DDR3 RAM
- Corsair VS 650 power supply
- 1TB WD green hard disk

Above, I’ve listed my PC setup which is causing bottlenecks. For optimal gaming performance, I’m looking for a CPU that won’t limit my experience. Which one would be best to pair with my GTX 1060 3GB? I’m unsure between the i5 7600K and Ryzen 1600X—please take into account future upgrades as well.
Thanks in advance.

For Ryzen 1600, a good Mobo is Intel Core i5-13600K or similar, paired with a RAM of 16GB or more.
