Hope your posting is in the correct location. The system I developed about eight years ago doesn’t support Windows 11, so I think an update will be necessary. I aim to create a setup that can run on Windows 11 and possibly remain functional for another 8 to 10 years. It’s unlikely it will still be around by then since I’m 75. Ha ha. My main needs are browsing the internet and playing first-person shooter games. I’d appreciate any suggestions for systems that meet these requirements. I prefer not to use water-cooled units and want optical bays that can be expanded. I don’t like the rainbow lighting on most cases. I also don’t want to have to renovate the house for the build. Thanks for any advice you can offer.

First of all, your pc will not die when W10 support runs out.
You will simply not get new features.
Is your pc performance otherwise satisfactory?
Do you have a budget?
List the make/model of all of your parts, it is likely that many can be reused.
All that said, life is too short to have a slow pc.
If you have the funds, an upgrade will be very satisfying.

Thank you for your response. I'm experiencing some memory issues and will need to take the computer out of its storage area to search for information. At the moment, I only recall that the case is a Cooler Master 500 HAF and I installed an aftermarket graphics card inside. I'll check it later and update as needed.

CPU-Z will show the details of your motherboard, CPU, and RAM. For the PSU, check the data plate. The CM HAF 500 case looks good, but it might not fit a DVD drive.

Please let us know what types of games you enjoy or are planning to play. If you have concerns about security, consider switching to Win11. Your suggestions should focus on the processing power required for gaming. Additionally, if you desire enhanced visuals or performance—such as a bigger, faster, or higher-resolution display—what would interest you most?

Gururu, thank you for your response. I enjoy playing Sniper Ghost Warrior series and a few others. I want to be able to purchase a game without worrying about my PC's capacity. I’m interested in upgrading to Windows 11. My setup includes an ASUS 24-inch monitor with HDMI on the edge. I found some details: the motherboard is an AUSTeK Z170 DELUXE, the CPU is an Intel Core I5-6600K at 3.50GHz with a 64-bit OS, X64 processor, 16GB RAM, and the graphics card is an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970. I also have the STRIX sticker on the side. I plan to replace the PSU when I transport it and check it easily. I received some misleading information about the case—it seemed like I had a HAF 912 after browsing online. It was confusing with all the options. My system has enough slots for a DVD drive, and I’ve added another USB port on the front. There’s still at least one more slot available.

Thanks for your message. I hope you can manage to stay under $1000. You mentioned being in Texas, USA, and seem confused about the resolution.
