Questions about dual-power supply setup
I’m preparing for a multi-GPU setup for machine learning and need two power supplies. The Supermicro M12SWA-TF board is an oversized SSI EEB model, and I have six GPUs with mixed 8-pin and 6-pin connectors. The setup includes one 1000W PSU for the motherboard and two GPUs, plus a 1200W PSU for the remaining four. There are questions about power connections and splitter cables.

However, you will need to connect all three 8-pin CPU connectors. The 8-pin PCIe cable won't work for these.
Regarding the GPU and riser, because you're not providing power through the riser cable, it's delivering 75 watts from the motherboard directly to the GPU. You'll also need an additional power supply and ground from another PSU, which could harm the PSU, motherboard, or cards if not handled properly.
Yes, using riser cards would prevent passing 75 watts from the motherboard to the GPUs. This allows you to use a separate power supply for the GPUs instead of the one that powers the motherboard.
