mic has stopped functioning, vanished from every menu, device manager was checked, tried the sound troubleshooter, but nothing is connected. Gaming is still possible, though coms are affected.

For starters, which brand and model? Integrated into your headset or standalone? Separate connector, or shared with your headset, or bluetooth?
If this is a desktop and your mic's connected to any front panel connector, try rear panel ones.

It's integrated (headset and mic) some random amazon brand(micolindun) not USB, has a shared connector and a dual, I've tried both front and back ports on my desktop , and nothing, the headset has sound, but no mic

When you need someone to lend you a microphone or headset, you can be sure it's not your computer's sound card that's faulty, which is fortunately less common than a malfunctioning headset.

I've tested my other mic with a single connection, but it doesn't appear in the menu. It shows a notification when I plug it in, though it doesn't display. I'm considering switching to a standalone mic now, hoping it will resolve the issue so it shows up in any menu and becomes a default device.
