my pc displays 32g.b of ram and task manager confirms it runs at 2933 mhz
everything functions properly
with my 2x8 g.b of crucial balixstix sport ram cl17 3000mhz
but the new 2x8 same ram with cl15 3000mhz causes significant slowdown
fps drops to 80% of normal
tried removing the newer ram back to the old one but the problem persists
i changed xmp settings and it worked at 2933
that was the usual speed before
i’m unsure how to adjust each component individually
i updated my bios

The new RAM models differ significantly, and not all BIOS support setting them individually. Even when functioning, BIOS tends to apply a lower frequency and higher latency settings. Additionally, the first generation of Ryzen has issues with increased speeds and memory control when both channels are active. The optimal solution is to use two 3000MHz RAM modules with minimal latency.

You meant it's better to sell your old RAM and buy another one with a lower CL, right? So you're considering getting a new RAM with a CL15.

Your likely best option is to get rid of all your current ram and go for
2 sticks of 16 with the best performance numbers you can afford.
Although 4 x 8 and 2 x 16 both give you 32Gb there tends to be a massive difference in performance. Although I don't know the technical details running 4 sticks of memory tends to be harder for the machine to run than 2.
Before you get real far completely turn off the XMP and see if you see any difference at all...other than running benchmarks. This is mostly to see if memory speed really makes any difference to your application. You are going to see far less going from say 2933 to 3000 than from base speed to the 2933 speed. Maybe you just keep what you have and it is good enough.

Typically, memory speed has minimal effect on most applications. You usually can't determine if XMP is enabled without using benchmarking tools.
It seems the machine might have been running slower before. There could be an issue with the memory configuration—possibly incorrect slots.
Refer to the manual and confirm you're using the correct slots, especially when installing two sticks.
Most motherboards require the first two slots to be filled.
