Questionbought a new 4090 today, should i return it and wait for the 5090?
I purchased the 4090 today for 1799 new. I received it yesterday and before opening, I read that a 5090 is highly likely to be available in January 2025. Should I wait until then to buy the 5090 and return my 4090 now?
This is what I currently have (below). I’m planning to upgrade my GPU but after reading about new CPUs like the 9800x3d arriving in November and the 5090 in January, I’m considering waiting until January to build a new PC with that CPU and GPU and then selling my current machine. What do you think I should do?

Consider waiting until then to purchase the 5090 and return your 4090 now. What system are you taxed with right now? I suppose it was a late decision to buy the RTX4090 after already having an RTX4080, meaning you upgraded horizontally instead of vertically. How much would the seller reduce in terms of restocking fee?
I believed the 4090 represented more than just a horizontal upgrade.
For certain edge applications, yes. Generally, no. This system is intended for specific purposes. you aim to enjoy titles similar to red dead 2 in native 4k at 120hz, even though higher-end graphics cards won't support it, would you like to attempt it?
If you hold onto it too long, you'll be stuck waiting indefinitely.
The cost and effectiveness of the 5090 remain unclear.
However, based on previous trends, the leading card often faces supply issues and attracts a significant price markup from buyers.
