I recently purchased an RX 9070 XT to replace my RTX 3080. I kept the same PSU cable from the RTX 3080 (referenced on page 6 of the manual). I used Safe Mode and DDU to uninstall the NVIDIA drivers, then installed the latest Adrenalin v25.3.1 drivers.

I have a primary LG C4 (HDMI only, 144 Hz) and a secondary LG C2 (HDMI only, 120 Hz). The RTX 3080 had only one HDMI port, so I connected an active DP-HDMI adapter with the LC C2, which worked perfectly (144 Hz on the LG C4 and 120 Hz on the LG C2).

My new RX 9070 XT has two HDMI ports, so I expected to avoid using the DP-HDMI adapter. When I connected the LG C4 alone, Windows recognized 144 Hz and games ran smoothly—much faster than with the RTX 3080.

However, when I connected the LC C2 via HDMI, AMD drivers reported driver issues and the system would freeze shortly after. In Safe Mode, connecting the LC C2 through DP caused Windows to detect it only at a maximum of 60 Hz (instead of its full 120 Hz). Trying to force 120 Hz resulted in a black screen on the LG C2.

I’m starting to wonder if leaving NVIDIA was the right decision. Anyone have any advice or solutions?

Which AIB card were you selecting for the RX 9070 XT?
I applied Safe Mode and DDU to eliminate the NVIDIA drivers, and also used Safe Mode to set up the newest Adrenalin v25.3.1 drivers.
It is recommended to run DDU in Safe Mode to remove all GPU drivers (Intel, AMD, and Nvidia), then manually install the most recent driver from AMD's support site using an elevated command—Right click the installer > Run as Administrator.
Are you using ASRock B650M Pro RS?
What BIOS version are you running?
Which operating system are you using?
How old is your PSU?

The Sapphire Pulse functioned perfectly for 45 minutes using the RTX 3080. This outcome is clearly unrelated to the UEFI (recently updated), OS (Windows 11), PSU age (about a year or two), or the HDMI-DP active adapter.

I had problems with high refresh monitors and AMD cards before. Normal monitors were fine. I’ve stopped using AMD because of these issues. NVIDA has always been reliable for me. The 9070XT is a solid choice if it meets your needs and fits your budget. Hope you get it to function properly. These seem like TVs, so make sure your HDMI cables are in good condition and up to date.
