Question6800 XT low FPS
Question6800 XT low FPS
I understand there are many similar threads already, so I apologize. But after reviewing several of them, none of the proposed fixes have been successful. I'm facing low and stuttering FPS when using a 6800 XT across different games at 1440p. Here are my PC specifications:
- MPG B550 Gaming Edge WIFI
- Ryzen 3700X
- Stock standard DarkRock 4 Pro cooler
- 2x16GB Kingston HyperX Fury 3200MHz (HX432C16FB4K2/32)
- Installed in slots 2 & 4
- XMP profile 1 enabled
- Sapphire Pulse 6800 XT
- AMD clean-up utility + latest Adrenaline driver (23.7.2)
- Tuning guide: https://imgur.com/Sxuo7jh
- 750W EVGA PSU
- LG 27GP83B 27" monitor (2560x1440, 165Hz, Freesync on)
UserBenchmark results: https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/63553666
My notes:
- The hard drives are just for storage; I ignored them.
- I used an NVMe drive for gaming performance.
- The main issue appears to be MWII/Warzone, where I consistently see 70–90 frames with stuttering—even at low settings.
CPU, GPU, and memory usage are all moderate, so it doesn’t seem like any component is limiting things. But I might be mistaken.

I’m hoping someone can help, as this GPU could handle more, especially with lower video settings. Thanks!
If you adjust the game settings to high, it may affect performance. Changing the memory speed to 2933 could also have an impact. You notice your system isn't utilizing the CPU or GPU much while playing.
I adjusted all WZ quality options to 'high' and kept the memory at 3200. The frame rate remained stable (70-90 with some stutters), but GPU usage was slightly higher. After switching the memory speed to 2933, performance stayed similar (around 3200) yet stuttering increased noticeably (movement felt choppy). I observed that my memory utilization never exceeded 50%, no matter the game settings or memory speed. It’s unclear if this is due to the full 32GB storage or the low FPS with stutter.
low fps happens because your CPU isn’t keeping up with the game engine
for stuttering, Intel offers a good monitoring tool that works on AMD and NVIDIA cards too

see an example from one game using VSync 60 while running in borderless windowed fullscreen

the game runs at 60fps but still shows stuttering or doesn’t feel fluid

and here the game goes to exclusive fullscreen
that’s why, in exclusive fullscreen most resources are dedicated to your game
background tasks have to wait
@Roland Of Gilead
, the setup is a 27GP83B with Freesync active. Apologies, I should have included this in the original post (updated now).
@kerberos_20
, thanks for the thorough reply. I'll get the Intel tool and check the outcomes!
Note: I run the game in full screen only.
Also, if CPU performance is the problem, wouldn't it show maximum utilization? I've never seen it exceed around 40%.

Check the Intel PresentMon stats screenshot:
It’s still in the early stages. No maps are loading, FPS remains low, and movement/gameplay isn’t smooth.
I think this might not apply to all games. When testing BF2042 with medium/low settings, CPU utilization stays above 90%.
GPU and CPU usage are higher, but RAM usage isn’t the issue.
Uncertain if these factors are connected, but it’s worth noting.
Yes, each match uses the CPU in a different way. The GPU is functioning properly, and the FPS drops appear consistent—around 80-70-80-70, similar to what you see in the picture.
Not in line with expectations. The average FPS is stable but suffers from stuttering and inconsistency. This leads to a very choppy experience, which is the least reliable aspect. The GPU appears to be functioning properly, so I’m puzzled about the cause... I anticipated around 120+ frames at steady settings, particularly when performance was reduced. If this isn’t possible given today’s hardware, what upgrades would you recommend?
