Hello.
Recently I decided that I want to upgrade RAM on my pc with additional 16GB. I have 2x8GB ram Kingston Fury DDR5 5200MHz 40CL and I bought same 2 sticks and added them into slots.
Then I saw solid orange led on motherboard and found out the cpu doesn't work with 4x8GB ram that are 5200MHz or faster. The pc won't even boot up, only to bios where I can see RAM is only 4000Mhz even with XMP enabled.
My question is do I need to upgrade the cpu in order to use 4x8GB or is there also an option to choose between bunch of different frequency profiles in bios that goes from 3000 to 7000Mhz or even higher ?
I didn't want to try that without advice since Idk what would happen.
PC Specs
Mobo: MSI Z690 A WIFI DDR5
CPU: i5-12600K
GPU: RTX 3060TI GAMING X
Storage: 2 x Samsung SSDs
PSU: Corsair RM850

The optimal setting for the rams on any DDR5 platform remains DDR5-6000Mhz. If I were you, I’d upgrade the RAM and replace the older units, adding a 2x16GB DDR5-6000MHz kit into slots A2 and B2.
Check your BIOS version; if an update is available, install it to test if the problem continues.
Regarding CPU upgrades for 4x8 speed, the answer is no.

I will revise the bios and attempt again if successful, though I question its effectiveness. The 2x16 configuration likely offers a better alternative. Does CL affect performance now that I have CL40 RAM?
I notice the motherboard site states dual memory supports up to 6400MHz maximum.

You mixed two different kits. This is a mistake. Even though they are the same models, they might not be fully compatible and this is very important when you try to run 4x ddr5 sticks.
But ddr5 sticks already come at high capacity so it's useless to run 4 sticks to have only 32 GB (I have 64 GB and only 2 sticks).

It's actually the exact same set of components I purchased four years ago for assembling this computer, two identical units each containing 2x8GB.

It doesn’t matter. The same model number can be purchased simultaneously. They aren’t assured to function correctly. This is why they’re sold as a kit—it ensures they’ve been tested together. Combining kits might not work, could fail at full speed or only at base speed.

The real cause of the issue is that they probably use different types of silicon. Identical model numbers and speeds, yet varying silicon materials, which explains the incompatibility.

It might be worth considering purchasing another kit that could be effective?
