Hi,
I understand this has been discussed before but I’m still trying to get a clear response about my hardware setup.
I’ve installed an Asus 3080 Strix OC with 10GB RAM and recently got an Asus 4070 OC with 12GB.
When checking benchmarks for both models, they seem similar, but I’m having trouble finding a comparison that includes the Strix card.
I’m currently running 1080p and plan not to upgrade much in the near future, aiming for a system that supports 4K in the next build.
My current system components are:
Intel 11700K with an AIO Corsair cooler
Strix Z590E Gaming
Corsair Dominator 32GB
Corsair 1000W Gold
Corsair MP600 Pro NVMe
Feel free to share any thoughts or advice. Thank you in advance.

Choose the RTX 4070.
It offers 12 GB of VRAM compared to 10 GB on the 3080.
Its TGP is 200 watts versus 320 watts for the 3080, making it more power-efficient.
It also supports Frame Generation.

So what's being asked is about which card performs better and if it's the better option, with newer cards typically offering better support for modern technologies. Based on performance tests, the RTX 4070 appears to be marginally superior in both 2D and 3D performance.

They're likely checking the performance gap between AIB models with higher clocks than the 3080 Founders or the card they observed, and comparing it to their Strix 3080, as well as evaluating how it stacks up against the 4070 (assuming Founders is a reference model).

Hi,
The question was in the header! 3080 or 4070. If both cards were stock, I would have gone for the 4070, but I was looking for opinions on the 3080 stock variant versus the stock ASUS 4070. I appreciate the link, but I was just seeking feedback. Thanks for the reply.

It’s unlikely anyone will be able to confirm this, since none of the reputable comparison platforms provide specific card models, and those that do are often doubtful in terms of quality and precision. For everyday users, the odds of encountering someone who has switched from the exact card model you’re interested in to a generic 4070 from the Strix card are extremely low. The most accurate reference might be what I previously shared, and considering the Strix model offers roughly 5-7% better performance than the standard card, its capabilities are likely to be comparable—though this could change if newer versions support features the older model lacks, which may or may not increase its worth to you. Ultimately, only you can judge the situation.

Hi,
I understand the comparison sites only checked the stock variants against each other and not the strix as I mentioned in the original post.
I wasn’t searching for someone who swapped a 3080 strix for a stock 4070 to highlight the difference.
I know that a small change—just 5-7%—is noticeable, but it might not be enough to make the stock outperform the 4070.
Thanks for your response.
