Looking to do a 1440p gaming build. Budget is $2500 or less. Don't need monitors, keyboard or mouse, just the main components. Will be doing games like COD, also like to dabble in various games, typical web browsing, discord, office programs like word, excel. I would be upgrading from an 8700k and 1080ti.
I have always been an intel guy but after doing some research, I think I am going o go with 7800x3d. Seems to be better for gaming, runs cooler, am5 socket has the ability to upgrade longer. I know the 7800x3d has less cores than the intel 13700k which is kind of bugging me. Some of this is more of a head game with me.
On the video card, can't decide whether to get 7900xtx, 4080 or wait for the 4080 super. If the initial pricing stays true, I would wait for the 4080 super. As of right now, it is listed at $999. But of course, when it hits the market, that price may end up being higher. Also realize the price of the 4080 could drop.
Would like to have 2 m.2 drives, 1 for OS and programs and other for storage

Ty for info. What is atx 3.0 tier a PSU? Is that the latest standard? What benefits does it offer?
Ty for info. Would an 850 watt PSU be sufficient for a 4080, or would you need something like the 4080 super or 7900xtx? While researching, several mentioned needing a 1000 watt for headroom when getting a 4080; I’m not sure about the 7900xtx or 4080 super. It might be a bit excessive, but running an 850 watt PSU in my current setup (8700k and 1080ti) seems fine.
With either PSU listed, would you require any extra adapters for the GPU?

Atx 3.0 truly represents the updated PSU standard, designed to handle the temporary power needs of the latest GPU models. For the 7900XTX, opting for a 1000w unit is strongly recommended.

I prefer investing more in the case and cooler for a quieter setup. I also picked one of the top motherboards, as you mentioned you might want to upgrade later. I’ve also developed a liking for Corsair’s shift power supplies. If you’re worried the build is too tight on the budget, I’d consider alternatives.

This section of your post is clear. As long as you have an ATC 3.0 PCIe 5.0 PSU, no additional connectors are required.

Ty for the details. Being quiet isn't a major issue for me, though it would be nice if it were more subdued. As long as quieter doesn't come at the cost of performance, I'm fine. I'd prefer it to be cooler and louder rather than just quieter. Right now, I'm a bit noisy but it doesn't really bother me, maybe I've gotten used to it.

On the Corsair shift PSU, I think the main change is that the connections are on a different side to simplify cable management?
