I have a Targus power adapter that seems to be non-functional, and I think the power cable is still connected to the boat at the bottom of the lake. The DC adapter has a 4-pin input that connects to a cable with a cigarette lighter plug. Do you know what the 4-pin connections are for? The unit is labeled 11-28 VDC input, so the plug used was likely 12VDC. Which of the four pins corresponds to 12VDC? The Targus model number is 800-0096-001A, and it appears the adapter is clearly marked as an auto/Air adapter... perhaps the boat itself was the issue! Any information would be appreciated. Thank you.

I didn’t locate any pinout diagrams and most of the information I found appeared to be through eBay.
Automobile cigarette lighters require two wires to deliver 12 volts, which is the center plug style. - the casing.
The main point is that there are only a few options for converting the cable and adapter into a four-pin input. It seems like it could be solved quickly with a multimeter in just a short time.
It might be either proprietary or altered in some way.
Still, you’ll have to locate the correct replacement cable.
My idea: it’s probably easier and safer to buy a new power adapter and cable instead.
"Universal" is a very general term. It could imply a plug-and-port design, but it doesn’t guarantee matching voltages or polarities.
