Question: What if there is no signal after installing a new CPU?
Hello everyone today I decided to upgrade some components in my old PC such as the CPU, GPU, PSU, after installing everything correctly and turning it on. I saw all the LED lights but couldn’t see anything on the monitor. After looking online for solutions, I realized I needed to update my BIOS. Once I installed the new BIOS and updated the BIOS file, my screen went black again. When I tried to power it on once more, I still got a black screen with an orange LED on the motherboard indicating RAM. I kept searching and discovered that my RAM slot was dead. I managed to turn the PC on with just one stick of RAM. I was curious about the new CPU and after trying it again even with only one RAM slot, I still didn’t see any display. Please help me!
i updated my bios to the latest version, but when i put my new cpu there is no signal on my pc,can it be because my ram slot died after updating bios?
You can get a bent pin in your socket even with an updated CPU by checking the BIOS settings and ensuring proper installation.
the other ram slot failed due to a malfunction in its connection or internal component.
I repaired my PC, the issue was a bent pin in my socket. After fixing it and installing the new CPU, I turned it on and tried adding another RAM stick just to check. Everything worked fine. I’m still unsure why my RAM slot didn’t function properly because of those bent pins.
The 2 channel memory controller is located inside the processor and linked to RAM via numerous pins. A single defective pin or an entire channel could render the system non-functional, affecting all RAM.
