Question Weird stuttering in RDR2?
Question Weird stuttering in RDR2?
I've been back to playing the game after approximately a year, but occasionally I face problems where the game runs smoothly until it suddenly stutters once, then experiences microstuttering—FPS dropping from 60 to 59 every second. It's puzzling because adjusting settings, such as changing texture quality, seems to temporarily resolve the issue, even though I revert them back. I'm still confused about what's happening.
I'm not using any background applications beyond Windows tasks. All my drivers are current, and my PC appears capable of handling the game at the settings I use. I've tried disabling fullscreen optimizations, switching to DX12, enabling high performance mode for the CPU, or setting maximum performance in NVCP. Disabling HAGS hasn't helped either.
I was using these same settings two years ago when my PC was significantly weaker. I also attempted older BIOS versions and GPU drivers without success.

Update your post with complete hardware details and operating system information. Provide the power supply specifications, including voltage, amperage, age, and condition (original, build, refurbished, used). List all connected peripherals. Specify whether the network connection is wired or wireless.
Begin diagnosing by accessing Task Manager, Resource Monitor, and Process Explorer (Microsoft, free).
Launch each tool, adjust the window to observe changes, and let the system settle before shifting focus.
Play "Red Dead" normally and monitor the interface for shifts in performance, especially microstutters.
Take your time to analyze the data carefully; note any irregularities and try to reproduce the issue consistently.
