Question Very slow Firefox and files disappear?...
Slow FF was previously forgiven, but now it keeps refusing to respond whenever I open 4-5 tabs, especially because my RAM is limited to 2GB. Recently, the application has been acting like it won't respond at all. Also, important files I downloaded are missing from my C drive completely. I understand this might sound strange, but I'm sure it is. I looked for them using a search tool and checked the external hard drive just in case they were moved there, but nothing turned up!
I ran a physical scan with Macrorit on C, which didn’t detect any hardware issues, and then used CHKDSK which didn’t find anything until stage 4. After that, the machine restarted, so I don’t have any clear details about what happened afterward.
I also ran a malware check on my C drive using ESET online, which came back clean.
My next step will be to examine the external hard drive with Macrorit for physical bad sectors and to run CHKDSK for logical problems. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
system specifications available? There might be limited storage remaining.
Free HD space is now 109GB available from a total of 495GB...
