I'm facing a challenging situation with my 9-year-old PC. There are recurring USB connection problems and occasional power issues, even though other parts like RAM, GPU, CPU temperature, and PSU seem fine. Despite running smoothly during intensive tasks such as playing GTA at high settings and using software like Premiere Pro, After Effects, and 3ds Max, I still encounter instability when connecting a mouse or keyboard directly. Using an external USB hub resolves the problem completely.

It appears the issue might be linked to my power supply unit (PSU). Unfortunately, I can't easily inspect or replace it myself. I’m seeking advice from the community—have others faced similar difficulties? Could the PSU be the main cause, or is there another factor I’m missing?

Your guidance would mean a lot. Thank you in advance!

Are the Power Management settings disabled for every USB Hub in the Windows Device Manager? This prevents Windows from shutting down USB devices when they're not actively using power.

Yes, that's the configuration you want to adjust. Removing the check marks from all the root hubs on the mobo could help.
