Hey everyone!
I have an SSD for the C drive and an HDD for the D drive. My Windows is installed on the SSD, which has some apps like Chrome. On the HDD I store my pictures, videos, editing files, games, and almost everything else.
Usually when I upload a video to YouTube through Chrome, my SSD drops from 88 gigabytes to 86 gigabytes. I didn’t think much about it—maybe it’s just saving the file temporarily until the next day, or it will go back to 88 gigabytes. This makes sense since Chrome is installed on my SSD and doesn’t allow me to install on the HDD.
But it started to bother me because my SSD is small. I don’t want it to wear out or get clogged up from constantly uploading large video files.
I did some research and thought, “What if I find a browser I can install on my HDD? That way it would take space from there, right?” So I installed Opera on the D drive and tried uploading a video—again, it took space off the SSD.
Can anyone help me? Why is this happening? What am I doing wrong here. Thanks <3

Cache and temporary files for software are usually stored in your AppData folder within your User Folder. Browsers have done this for years. Even with a POS SSD, it would take a decade to wear out the SSD by writing 20GB each day. I wouldn't be concerned about it.

It's worth noting that many other applications can create temporary files on the system drive, and page file usage continues even with ample RAM available. Ask anyone who has used an SSD under five years; they'll likely share their experience about failures related to P/E cycles.

What dimensions does this storage have?
Likely, it's merely temporary files that disappear over time.

I'll share pictures of both my drives. I added crystaldiskinfo, but aside from the "good" status, I'm not sure what the numbers mean. Maybe someone could clarify if it looks okay or not.
I think it's just a bit of OCD, especially since the numbers are dropping, which is a little upsetting on a small drive. I'll let it go. Also, I don't worry too much about it fading away while I keep uploading.

However, if your hardware has lasted 30 days, it's likely to last much longer. If you notice any issues with these values, it usually signals a hardware problem that cannot be resolved. To protect your data, implement a backup strategy: three copies, two different physical devices, and one copy stored outside your home.
