6650 XT is a solid choice. Perhaps an RX7600 would work too.

I'm not really familiar with AMD, so I don't know their nvdia versions. 😁 But choosing AMD over NVIDIA is fine if you can save money and get similar or better performance.

The nine game rasterization tests are most useful without relying on Nvidia's preferred features such as ray tracing. It generally outperforms the RTX 3060 in raw FPS numbers and matches it when included. The RTX 4060 is slightly quicker but comes at a significantly higher price.

As discussed, the most vulnerable part of your PC is the graphics card. The 4790k can still support 1080p gaming. I've been using a fourth-generation Intel Xeon E3-1225 V3 for years, and it performed well for its time, possibly even handling Cyberpunk with a more powerful GPU back then.

That's also the impression I'm getting. And i could always try to overclock the cpu a bit. My cooler should have no problem keeping temps in check with a minor overclock. Got a mugen scythe on it and it's a an absolute beast 😁 think I'll look into the performance of a 3060 OC and the amd equivalent (whatever that would be) and where i can get the most bang for my buck ^^

my suggestion would be either a770 intel or 3060 12gb if your on a tight budget.
intel is newer has more vram it does need to have sam turned on to get full benefit out of it.
drivers have came along way that it trades blows with the 3060 12gb and some games outright beats them.
16gb of vram secret weapon is its 256 bit bus works better for 2k or higher res.

then theres the 3060 12gb which is a decent card with decent vram on a budget.

I wouldn't suggest an A770 with 4th gen. Numerous games become sluggish and unresponsive without a resizable bar. (Smart Access Memory is AMD's trademark for the PCIe technology.)

With your budget, a 6700xt/6750xt is likely achievable, possibly even an RX 6800 on sale. Your CPU might limit it a bit, but you'll have a strong GPU for future upgrades.

Thanks to everyone for assisting in identifying what to upgrade first.
I've chosen to purchase a GPU. It will be the ASUS DUAL GeForce RTX 3060 OC V2 with 12GB GDDR6.
