I've begun revisiting FPS again, though my hardware feels a bit outdated. I'm playing the first descendant of Fnite, which is fine in terms of FPS, but it's putting a strain on my system with 20-40 FPS.
My setup includes a 4790k on a z97 motherboard, 16GB 1333Mhz RAM, and an 1050ti GPU.
With a budget of about 3000dk (400 euros or 438 US), what upgrades would be most effective for boosting FPS? Should I focus on the GPU, CPU, RAM, or motherboard?

It seems you're asking about the games you're interested in and whether to adjust the monitor settings. Would you like me to help with that?

Currently I'm using fnite and the first descendant. It works fine at around 70fps on average. The descendant performs between 20-40 fps even at the lowest settings. The monitor is a 120hz benq. I just need to run it in 1920x1080.

The entire system really needs a refresh, but you can still keep it affordable. Also, what about your power supply and storage?

Yeah, i know the system is ancient ^^ and the plan is to upgrade more over time.
Got a 750watt psu, so no issues there. Plenty of room to put more power hungry components in. Main storage is a samsung 500gb ssd, so that's ok too. Then i have several older hdd for stuff that don't need fast transfer speeds, like movies, music and retro games.
What I'm interested in knowing is what would improve gaming the most, if i only upgrade either gpu or cpu, ram and motherboard. If i upgrade gpu, then cpu, ram and motherboard will be upgraded later on and vice versa.
With a system this old, I'm having trouble finding conclusive answers by google search or youtube videos.
Hope i make sense 😅

Model and design of the mentioned power supply? Your main concern is the GPU.

Game-oriented selection. Online multiplayer typically favors CPU performance, though you can always aim for competitive play with minimal GPU strain.

GPU is the clear area for improvement.
Using an RTX 4060 Ti or RX 7700 XT could boost performance by four to five times.

I would prefer a 4060 series, but even the additional cost above 3060 would be a problem if I need it immediately without waiting at least 3 or 4 months, and possibly longer.
