Hello
I’m reaching out for assistance after spending countless hours watching PC builds on YouTube. I finally assembled my own system and it performed perfectly from the very first boot, lasting well over eight months. The main problem now is severe lag during PC gameplay. I mainly use Steam and EA apps. I upgraded my internet connection to the highest tier my ISP offers (cable with 500Mbps download and 22Mbps upload, and a ping of around 10ms). I also replaced my old modem with a new one and switched from Wi-Fi to a wired connection via the gaming Ethernet port on my router.

Service technicians have visited my home from the ISP, inspecting all cables from the modem to the telephone pole, but they’ve confirmed nothing is amiss. My speed tests show download speeds reduced by roughly 150 to 200Mbps, mainly during evenings when nearby users are online.

The puzzling part is that I believed the issue was related to my ISP or network until three days ago. I joined a Battlefield 2042 server and experienced extreme lag. After exiting the game and restarting my PC, everything returned to normal. I didn’t reboot the modem or router—only the PC—and the problem disappeared entirely. Yesterday, while playing on Steam, I encountered massive lag again. I shut down the PC and restarted it; performance improved.

I searched online for possible causes and found only a few suggestions: checking for missing hardware or software updates. I verified my CPU, motherboard, GPU, and OS—all were up to date.

I’m at a standstill and would appreciate help from someone here.

PC specifications:
- Motherboard: Gigabyte Z590 Aorus Ultra
- CPU: Intel 11thgen i9-11900
- RAM: Patriot Viper Steel DDR4 64GB (2x32GB) @ 3200Mhz
- GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX3070Ti
- OS: Windows 10 Pro
- Storage: Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus 2TB
- Case: Corsair Carbide Series 200R Compact ATX
- CPU Cooler: Mugen5 Black Edition
- Software: Able6actual

What are the system temperatures? Which CPU cooler is recommended? What type of PC case should I use?

The Case is a Corsair Carbide Series 200R Compact ATX Case.
CPU Cooler is a Mugen5 Black Edition cooler.
With HW Monitor, the temperature under the motherboard was 59 degrees Celsius. For an Intel Core i9, the package reached 67 degrees Celsius, with high temperatures at 65 degrees Celsius and maximum cores at 65 degrees Celsius. The GPU maintained a max of 49 degrees Celsius, memory at 56 degrees Celsius, and a hotspot of 59.8 degrees Celsius.

Execute Cinebench (Latest) on the CPU and display temperatures.
Launch Unigine Superposition (1080P Extreme) on the GPU and show temperatures.

Executing Cinebench 2024 with maximum CPU temperatures reaching 63°C on the MB board. CPU temperature recorded at 51°C.

Testing Unigine Superposition (V1.1) at 1080P Extreme settings showed max temp 81°C and min 46°C.

Post testing, a BSOD occurred related to memory management. The system restarted and appears stable now. This has never happened before on this PC.

Following memtest86, I identified and swapped a faulty RAM stick, which resolved some problems. When I reported this to my ISP, they dispatched a technician who discovered the service line from the house was damaged and replaced it. Currently, everything appears fine, but I'll keep monitoring.
