Question Troubleshooting defective components/ assistance required
I recently changed my friend's build and upgraded his fans right before moving the PC. Everything seemed fine. After transferring everything, the monitor wouldn't turn on. I changed display ports, HDMI cables, and even tried different sockets and RAM positions. I also adjusted the ramp setting. Finally, I cleared CMOS. I put my CPU from my current build into his motherboard, but it wouldn't post either. I thought it was the motherboard, so I tried inserting my CPU in my system instead. Now my system doesn’t post either. I’m unsure if the CPU is faulty or if the motherboard needs fixing. I really need some help to figure this out.
Are you certain all the standoffs are positioned properly? Ensure they aren’t touching the motherboard’s back. Check for any metal shavings that might cause shorts. Does the system display any signs of operation? Verify the power supply is functioning correctly. It might help to remove the hardware from the case and reassemble it on top of the motherboard box to test further.
The system clearly indicates it's alive. All the RGB lights on the fans are spinning, and I can hear the AIO pump water moving along with the ram RGB as well as the motherboard's RGB. The build specs include an AMD Ryzen 7 5800 X, a MSI B550 motherboard, two Corsair Vengeance RAM sticks, and an RTX 3080. I double-checked the standoff before assembling everything perfectly and beautifully.
Additionally, I lack a voltage tester to check the power supply, and there isn’t an alternative available for this setup.
Did you secure the AIO cooler properly after moving the system? It's important to ensure it's snug but not overly tightened.
