Question Strange static noise originating from the power supply unit?
Assembled my first build and everything seems to be running fine except a slight static noise coming from the PSU when the PC does anything but sitting idle. It was especially noticable when I move my mouse around these graphs as seen in the video.
Thats my build:

Is this something normal? How high is the risk of running the build like this? PSU was bought second hand.
"This video is private". However, the noise might be coil whine. It could originate from the GPU rather than the PSU. Unless you inspect your PC case and listen closely, pinpointing its source isn't possible, so blaming the PSU isn't justified.
Why isn't your PSU firmly attached to the PC case? It looks like the MoBo standoff is protruding from one of the screw holes.
#2 The rattling sound suggests vibration issues, which should be resolved by properly securing the PSU.
#3 It's a risky assumption; we can't confirm the PSU's condition or voltage accuracy without more information.
#4 What is the PSU's make and model (or part number)?
1 was a middle-ground fix during assembly since I lacked the screws; I used Mobo standoffs as substitutes, but even with correct screws it didn’t improve things.
#2 there were no rattling or vibrations.
#3 maybe that’s the issue—could there be greater danger than the PSU failing?
#4 it’s a Corsair RM850x (2021) 850 W, 80+ Gold Certified, fully modular ATX power supply.
It might be the PSU fan bearing issue as well. Apart from that, there are no other likely sound sources coming from the PSU.
Yes. Power supplies have a tendency to damage connected devices (your entire PC), making them the most critical part inside the computer. That's why it's best not to compromise on the quality of the PSU—whether by purchasing a low-quality unit or a used one.
Using a used PSU also means you won't receive any warranty.
Corsair certified refurbished PSUs only offer a 90-day warranty, no matter what model you choose.
On the other hand, a brand new Corsair RMx comes with a 10-year warranty.
I’m still puzzled—clearly you have plenty of money for a $700 GPU (RTX 3080), yet you opt for a cheaper PSU. Why?
