I’m facing an unusual issue with a pre-built PC. It seems to happen unexpectedly, and I haven’t been able to identify the exact cause. The problem appears when launching certain games—usually they function normally, but at some point all of them generate errors like "A fatal error has occured" or "Not enough video memory." Sometimes the screen displays a specific message, and after a few seconds the computer restarts without any issues.
I suspect it might be related to the GPU, but I’m seeking advice on how to confirm this. I’ve checked the cables, run benchmark tests, reinstalled graphics drivers using DDU, tried older versions, and adjusted Nvidia settings. The only solution I’ve found is to power off the system instead of restarting, which doesn’t work. I need to fully shut it down and turn it back on after a while for it to operate normally again.
Any suggestions or diagnostic tools could help pinpoint the problem better?
Did you overlook the specific make and model of your PSU?
Reinstalled the graphic drivers completely using DDU?
Did you reinstall the newest GPU drivers through an elevated command, such as right-clicking the installer and selecting Run as Administrator?
What is the make and model of your panel?
What is the current BIOS version for your motherboard?
I believe it might be a virus, possibly a trojan. Have you checked it?
What game is experiencing computer issues?
Sorry, PSU is VGA SuperNOVA 1000 GT 80 Plus Gold Fully Modular. I didn't test with an elevated command. I used Gefore Experience. What do you mean by panel? The bios version is American Megatrends Inc. 1205, dated 6/14/2023.
Hey, it's not just one game, it's multiple. The main one is Lies of P, which is the first one I saw. But when the errors begin, I also can't play Cyberpunk, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, Ready or Not, and the Dead Space remake. Those are the only ones I've noticed. Most of the other games I have installed so far are pretty low intensity and will run when those errors start. I'd be surprised if it's a virus either. I have the full Bitdefender suite, but it's not showing anything right now.
Are these just games? It seems like a driver problem. I’d reinstall the drivers again (you already did). Keep track of the driver version to ensure you have the latest one. TaskManager can be helpful too—check if it’s using too much memory or CPU. I’d also run video diagnostics thoroughly. Are your temperatures normal? You might not expect this error due to temperature, but sometimes it does happen.
Everything looks the same at this point. I'm planning to reinstall the drivers. Resources don't seem to be using too much, according to what I've seen. Do you have any diagnostic tools you suggest? Temperatures are normal. The CPU is a bit warm but not excessive, and the GPU performs well with temperatures. It rarely exceeds 70 degrees under load.

I’d begin with the essentials—diagnostic tools that have been around a long time because they work well and are free. And for temperatures, I’d suggest HWMonitor, plus the standard Windows utilities like memory checker and TaskMan. The diagnostic software that comes with NVidia is also useful.
But honestly, I’d just hold off. I think you’re using Windows, and since I first replied (sorry for the delay), it hasn’t been very pleasant. Opera or Brave crashes sometimes, sometimes everything freezes.
It’s not the end of the world, and the next Windows patch should probably help.
Others might have better, newer suggestions, but I’m a seasoned tech person who sticks to what I know.
