My desktop PC began acting oddly a few days ago.
Chrome stopped loading any pages, Thunderbird couldn't download emails, my Steam account failed to connect to the server, and I couldn't join Discord.
I can still use Edge to browse websites.
I was able to play Elite Dangerous Odyssey without issues.
I've tried various solutions before:
uninstalling and reinstalling Chrome and Thunderbird,
resetting DNS settings,
using the admin prompt with recommended DNS commands,
running Malwarebytes in safe mode,
quarantining any threats,
installing all latest drivers,
testing both Ethernet and Wi-Fi connections.
My Windows 11 laptop works fine on the same router and Wi-Fi.
It's really frustrating.

Check the Reliabiity History/Monitor and Event Viewer for any error codes, warnings, or events around the time of the issues. Review the Update History for any problems or failed updates. Examine the admin commands executed and their outcomes. Malwarebytes identified any threats and isolated them; be aware that some results may appear as false positives.

Changing errors and rising numbers indicate a failing or outdated PSU. I believe the existing 10-year-old unit is nearing its end of life. Do you have another PSU available for testing? Please use only the cables provided with the test unit. Can you retrieve and share the Reliability History or Monitor timeline? A visual chart would be helpful. Before proceeding, ensure all critical data is safely backed up in at least two separate locations, not just on the current host drive. Also confirm the backups can be recovered and read.

Could it really be the PSU that's the issue?
The system runs smoothly with games and other tasks, yet a network problem seems unlikely.
Since the PSU is more than a decade old, I plan to replace it soon, but for now this is the situation.
Timeline 1
Timeline 2
I already have two additional hard drives—8TB and 1TB—that I back up my main drives regularly.

OK then,
I attempted to run Malewarebytes once more in Safe Mode, but no malware was detected. After restarting Windows 11 and testing my Thunderbird client, a new error code pr_connect_reset_error appeared. Looking it up, it seems related to the antivirus causing issues, so even with protection paused, nothing resolved. I completely uninstalled it, and everything functioned afterward. Therefore, I’ve chosen to switch from Kaspersky to Bitdefender.
