Question Season Prime Ultra Titanium Tx-1000 shutdown problem during gaming
Hi,
A few weeks back my system, which had been stable and not overclocked, suddenly shut down after playing Fallout 4 for an hour. This occurred three times already. Running gpu-z showed that my Evga 3080 ti FTW3 GPU reached 99 percent utilization with a maximum power draw of 406 watts. I suspect the PSU might be failing and after searching online, I found that the Seasonic Prime Ultra Tx1000 has problems with overclocked 3080 cards, especially those with three eight-pin power connectors. I had to remove the PSU to take a photo for RMA and place it upside down so the fan draws cooler air. Other forums mentioned that the GPU’s 12V feed becomes unstable under high power loads. Still worried about the whole system failing. Seasonic offered me a different 1200-watt model but it wasn’t efficient. They told me there was no stock available. What should I do?
Choose a 1200w Platinum over a 1000w Titanium that stops working. Don't buy Seasonic again even though the newest ATX3.x models are much improved.
Yeah thats what I want. The 1300 titanium atx 3.0 model. Anyhow loosing faith in the brand. Its not like I went over 800 watts. The PSU just caunt handle three 8 pin power connectors.
Thanks for the link. I figured out what was happening. It was strange since I noticed my fans probably from the GPU kicked in more than usual, with a lot more fan noise than normal. I began checking apps like gpuz and saw GPU temperatures soaring and power usage reaching crazy highs—up to over 400 watts. After getting a new OLED monitor and setting the DLDSR resolution to 4K upscale, the CPU usage wasn’t that bad. Temperatures stayed under 60 degrees, and I used a Corsair H100 AIO water cooler. I reached out to Seasonic and chose the Vertex 1200. It’s not as efficient, but it should give me more headroom. Thanks.
