Question Removed SSD from Alienware laptop and transferred to Desktop
I transferred the boot SSD and secondary storage from my Alienware laptop to my Desktop during setup. I understand it’s not ideal and that I should have reinstalled the OS on my Desktop earlier, but so far there haven’t been significant problems with its performance. Are there any potential risks or long-term concerns I should be aware of? Also, if anyone could assist with moving data to another SSD and reinstalling Windows while preserving my current data—especially since I’m considering upgrading from a 256 GB to a 1 TB SSD—I’d appreciate the guidance.
There isn't a built-in method to move the files automatically. You would have to copy the data from one drive to another, reinstall the operating system on the empty drive, and then transfer the data manually.
