Hello, I recently assembled a new PC this weekend and immediately tried to install Windows from a USB drive. However, I encountered a blue screen with a repair message repeatedly. After several attempts, I downloaded the BIOS update again and updated it, but the issue persisted. I suspected an outdated BIOS might be the cause, so I installed the update onto the USB and then updated the BIOS.

After about 5 to 10 minutes, the screen went black. I turned the computer off and back on, but nothing happened. Later, whenever I restarted, the VGA light on my motherboard would stay solid red. I attempted to clear CMOS, removed parts, took out the GPU, and even connected an HDMI cable directly to the motherboard, but the VGA light remained red. The motherboard still powers on via USB ports like the keyboard and mouse, though it doesn’t power anything through USB ports such as the USB drive.

I’ve tried using different HDMI and DisplayPort cables into the GPU and to the motherboard, but nothing worked. The system starts up correctly, but I can’t bypass the red VGA light during POST.

I’m considering that I might have updated to the wrong BIOS or possibly interrupted the update process. I’m thinking about flashing the BIOS using a USB drive or using an online BIOS reprogrammer and trying to reconfigure it. Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

The specifications are:
Motherboard: Gigabyte Aorus Z390 Elite
CPU: i9-9900k
GPU: Asus RTX 4070 OC
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB (2x16)
Cooler: MSI Mag 240r
Power Supply: Corsair cx750m
Case: NZXT H510

verify if the motherboard is reducing its size to fit the case
reset the BIOS using a jumper for CLR_CMOS
reinspect power supply connections at both ends, disconnect and reconnect all cables
examine the CPU socket pins on the motherboard, checking for bending or discoloration
disconnect any extra devices, keeping only essentials, attempt to boot
(motherboard, CPU with cooler, fan, one RAM in slot B2, PSU, keyboard)
if this fails, obtain a backup BIOS and install it
place an older unzipped BIOS file on a USB drive
allow it to power on, then turn it off, then back on repeatedly until the backup BIOS appears
