Question Randomly shuts down when using both the touchpad and a USB mouse?
Hi,
I purchased a new ASUS Vivobook laptop. All functions are working properly except for the right-click feature, which intermittently stops for both USB mouse and touchpad. It pauses for about 5 to 6 seconds before resuming.
The problem occurs randomly. I attempted to reinstall the mouse driver, but it didn’t resolve the issue.
Could you provide any insight into why this happens? Your assistance would be very helpful.
Thanks!
Hi, it might be a third-party program causing mouse issues. Try a clean boot to check if the problem disappears. A clean boot starts your system with just Microsoft apps enabled, then slowly turn back on a few programs or services one by one until the issue reappears. This helps identify the exact program causing the problem. Read the instructions carefully and make sure you enable "Hide all Microsoft services" before turning things off! Move the mouse to a different USB port. The most frequent hardware issue I've encountered over the past 15 years is faulty USB ports. All three of my previous computers had at least one bad USB port. Occasionally, multiple ports fail, causing some to work while others don't. Once, I had to purchase an add-on card to increase the number of USB ports.
