Question Random lag spikes and "input lag" on new build?
I just completed my second PC build and when I started playing CS2, I experienced frequent lag spikes and stutters (from about 140-200fps to around 50-70) along with input lag. It happened for the first time, so I’m looking for some tips or tests to help identify the issue. Could it be related to only using the 8-pin from the PSU to the motherboard for the CPU? I checked Reddit and saw others asking similar things, as long as I’m not overclocking—which I am not. Temperatures were normal during the test; the CPU peaked at 50-60°C and the GPU at 60°C, with a hotspot of 81°C.
Details:
Motherboard: Asus Rog Strix B760-F
CPU: Intel i5-14600K
CPU Cooler: NZXT Kraken Pro 360
RAM: 2x8GB DDR5 Kingston Fury RGB 5600MHz
GPU: Asus Rog Strix 2070 Super AD
PSU: Corsair RM850
For extra safety, I’d verify you’re using the most recent BIOS update, and if needed, flash it. This process will need a CMOS reset afterward. I’d also confirm all motherboard drivers are installed, which you can locate on the support page for your board. Your BIOS information is available there too!
