Question Random Green Screen Crashes
Question Random Green Screen Crashes
Hello fellow PC lovers,
I’ve been using my gaming PC for roughly six years now, constantly tweaking and upgrading its components over time. My most recent build included the following details:
AMD Ryzen 5 3600
XFX 5700xt 8gb
A Corsair motherboard
Corsair Vengeance RAM of 16 GB, believed to be 3600
Three different SSDs combined for a total of 2.5 TB
EVGA Silver 600wt Power Supply
It performed well initially, but eventually became outdated. For the holidays, I upgraded my CPU and motherboard. At that point, my configuration was:
AMD Ryzen 7 5700x
XFX 5700t 8gb
ASUS TUF Gaming A520m-Wifi
Corsair Vengeance RAM of 16 GB, believed to be 3600
Three SSDs totaling 2.5 TB
EVGA Silver 600wt Power Supply
Afterward, I encountered problems. Initially, overheating was an issue, so I installed an IO Water Cooler/radiator. This resolved the overheating, but performance later slowed down. Eventually, I upgraded to an XFX 7600xt 12 GB card and added 32 GB of RAM simultaneously. Once those components were in place, I began experiencing strange crashes—not just blue screens, but complete power loss. I replaced my power supply, but continued to face issues. Eventually, I encountered a boot failure. It turned out the boot drive had failed, and I managed to replace it with a new 2 TB SSD. After installing Windows on the new drive, I neglected to update my drivers for several weeks. This situation occurred towards the end of April 2024.
Currently, my setup looks like this:
AMD Ryzen 7 5700x
XFX 7600xt 12 GB
ASUS TUF Gaming A520m-Wifi
Corsair Vengeance 32 GB
Three SSDs combined for 4 TB
and an 850 modular power supply
My ongoing challenge is gaming in The Finals. Occasionally, I face a random green screen crash—sometimes after a few minutes or even an hour of play. At first, I thought it was just the game, but now it happens across multiple titles. I’ve run three stress tests via AMD software, and everything passed for 30 minutes. Still, I’m unsure what to do next. Any advice would be invaluable.
Welcome to the forums, newcomer!
EVGA Silver 600wt Power Supply
EVGA is the manufacturer of this device, with 600W as its claimed power output. Silver indicates an 80+ efficiency rating. What model does it have, and how recent is it?
Some Gigabyte Motherboard
Be precise about the board and the BIOS version.
Sorry, I accidentally typed with my fingers on the keyboard. I've updated my thread with the latest situation and hardware details.
