I've set up a brand new SSD (crucial mx500) in my old laptop and installed fresh Windows 10. However, I've been experiencing random BSODs with errors like "unexpected store exception" or "critical process died." The Event Viewer only shows event 161 volmgr - "Dump file creation failed due to error during dump creation." Most people think it's a storage issue, but my SSD is brand new and the crystal disk shows no problems either. It has the latest firmware, and the BIOS is updated as much as possible for an 8-year-old machine. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

The BIOS version 312 is set up on the laptop?
Is the SSD securely placed into the laptop along with the power/data connections?
Verify the SSD using the Crucial tool and update its firmware if possible.
How was Windows 10 installed?
The Windows media installation stick appears to be the most suitable method.

Yes, Bios 312 is already set up and verified by Crucial Storage Executive confirming the latest firmware is present. Win 10 was installed via USB drive. The SSD functions properly with acceptable speed, and no other issues beyond BSOD have been observed. Unfortunately, I can't test it myself. I'm hoping the problem lies in the software.

I performed memtest for roughly four hours and it reported no issues. I've already run dism, sfc, and chkdsk commands.

inspect the internal links within the laptop to the SSD
consider testing with another SSD or HDD

I just experienced another blue screen this time because of dxgmms2.sys
😒
The graphics drivers are already current.
