I own a Dell Optiplex 780 Tower, which appears to be non-functional. The machine was off one day and wouldn’t start. I ordered a refurbished Dell Optiplex 790 from Amazon. The system image showed a tower case, but it took two weeks for delivery. Instead of the requested model, I received a Optiplex 790 Small Form Factor. While I was enrolled in a computer course and needed a working setup, I encountered issues with SSD/HDD fan errors. I set the fans to maximum and plan to disassemble the unit for repair. I have three Dell cases containing hardware, all with AMD motherboards. The Optiplex 780 seems to be compatible, but it only needs a power supply. I could either remove a power supply from another Dell case or look for a repair method. I’m not sure if I’m approaching this correctly and might be overcomplicating things. I haven’t owned anything new in years.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer! Or is there a method to fix the Power Supply...
They list 4 SKUs, which model do you own from the OptiPlex 780 series?
This could be a useful article:

If your motherboard lacks a compatible connector, you might need to swap it with a similar unit or use an adapter.
Or perhaps I'm approaching this incorrectly and overcomplicating things... I haven't owned anything "new" in years.
PSUs are often called the heart of a system—if they fail, everything connected to them will stop working.
