Question Please assist with PC not starting up
I had my home UPS cut off, causing the PC to shut down completely. Upon returning, I found it didn’t respond when I pressed the power button. After disassembling, I tested the PSU and found it wouldn’t start after shorting pins 15 and 16. I replaced the PSU and proceeded with the setup: removed the graphics card, connected the monitor via integrated HDMI, linked the CPU and motherboard cables to the new PSU, and powered it on. The CPU fan began spinning, but no POST occurred and no signal reached the monitor. I tried various components—swapped RAM, reset CMOS, used different cables and monitors—but the issue persisted. Eventually, I concluded the motherboard was damaged and replaced it. Here’s the current setup: new motherboard, fresh PSU, one RAM stick (likely functional), old CPU with cooler. All hard drives were removed. When power was applied, the motherboard indicator lit and the CPU fan started, yet no POST or display signal appeared. This raises several questions: Is the CPU itself faulty? Are there alternative ways to verify before purchasing a new one? Might there be another component I overlooked that could cause the problem? Could a defective PSU also be responsible, possibly affecting both CPU and motherboard? Please advise.
P.S. The specifications of the current components are as follows:
- MB: Asrock B560M Pro4 LGA1200
- CPU: i7-10700F
- PSU: ZALMAN TeraMax [850W]
- RAM: G.SKILL Ripjaws V 32MB
The other poster discussed the system specifications and mentioned additional symptoms. They noted attention to motherboard lights and codes, as well as any beeps. They also asked if the device was plugged in without the UPS, pointing out that low battery levels can damage it permanently. Regarding CPU testing, they suggested taking it to a local shop for evaluation. Other symptoms weren't specified beyond what was already shared.
I only check without using UPS.
The motherboard doesn’t produce any beeps, but I suspect it lacks a built-in speaker and is brand new (just purchased today). Because the same issue occurs with the older model, I’m unsure if either is defective—what are the chances?
