Question PC Unplug Suddenly During Delta Force and Counter Strike 2 Gameplay
Recently, my PC would unexpectedly power off while playing Delta Force or CS2. However, during an OCCT Power test everything appeared normal and the system didn’t shut down. Could you guess what might be causing this issue? I’ve already run Memtest86, Furmark, OCCT, and my PC hasn’t stopped...
CPU: Ryzen 5 5600
MOBO: Asrock B450M Steel Legend
RAM: Apacer Nox 2x16 at 3600mhz
SSD: Samsung 980 500gb + V-Gen Platinum 512gb SATA M.2
HDD: Seagate 2TB
PSU: FSP HV PRO 650W Bronze

What is the age of the PSU, and was it purchased new or used/refurbished?
It appears to be a low-quality PSU, close to being of poor quality. It's a Tier C model.
PSU specifications can be found here: [link].
Most random reboots or shutdowns stem from two problems:
1. The CPU/GPU overheats, triggering a system shutdown to avoid damage.
2. The PSU doesn’t provide sufficient power to the GPU or maintains unstable voltage for the PC.
First, check your CPU/GPU temperatures—both when idle and under load. If they’re normal, it’s likely the PSU is the issue.
Replace the PSU with a higher-quality unit.
For gaming rigs, a Tier A PSU is ideal. Examples include Seasonic Focus/Vertex/PRIME, Corsair RMx/RMi/HXi/AXi, and Super Flower Leadex Gold/Platinum/Titanium.
Tier A is recommended; Tier A+ is even better.
My three PCs are all powered by Tier A PSUs: Seasonic PRIME 650 Titanium (A+), Seasonic PRIME Ultra 650 Titanium (A+), and Seasonic Focus PX-550 (A). Detailed specs and images are available in my profile.
I purchased the PSU in December 2022, brand new. If the CPU or GPU overheats, why didn't the system shut down during a stress test with Furmark or OCCT? The temperatures seem normal—CPU around 51°C and GPU around 57°C with fans off.
There is no ideal/normal idle temp. Since idle temp vastly differs by ambient temp, cooling solution, fan RPM, fan size and fan amount. (Dust too.)
Hence why, there are no idle temp charts in component reviews. Only under load ones.
E.g R5 5600 review temp chart:
https://www.techpowerup.com/review/amd-r...00/19.html
Note: You will never get lower temps than ambient temps. Since PCs are cooled by ambient air.
Also, idle temps
doesn't matter
because even the smallest cooler can keep CPU/GPU near ambient temps. What matters, is under load temps, since there you can see the effectiveness of your cooling solution (usually balance between noise and temperature target).
E.g in my Skylake build (full specs with pics in my sig), idle temps currently are:
* 27.2C - ambient
* 30C - CPU (i5-6600K)
* 42.7C - GPU (GTX 1660 Ti)
* 41C - MoBo chipset (Z170)
* 49C - OS drive (970 Evo Plus 2TB)
* 35C - OS backup drive (960 Evo 500GB)
* 33C - data drive (870 Evo 2TB)
* 36C - data backup drive (MX500 1TB)
But these values of mine will tell you 0, since you do not have the same ambient, components and airflow setup as i have.
Game or bench the CPU and GPU under load and then monitor temps with e.g HWinfo64.
It only has 3 year warranty,
specs:

So, PSU acting up when warranty is about to end, is common for such low/crap quality units. After all, FPS expects the PSU to last only mere 3 years. Else-ways, it would have longer warranty.
As i said above, i'm running Seasonic PRIME 650 80+ Titanium PSU and my PSU has 12 years of warranty. Now, i bought my PSU Q3 '16 and as of today, my PSU is 9 years old, while it still has 3 years worth of life on it. - A prime example between low and great quality PSU. Low quality PSU is cheap and doesn't last. Great quality PSU costs accordingly and also lasts FAR longer.
Since PSU powers everything, it is
the most important component
inside the PC.
Hence why NEVER cheap out on PSU! Also, never buy used PSU either.
Do you believe I should return the RMA for my FSP HV 650W, sell the new one, and purchase a superior model? If yes, I’m considering getting the XPG Core Reactor II 750G 80+ Gold. What are your thoughts?
No-one would be buying that poor PSU without warranty. Even with warranty, it is a poor purchase.
Unknown if FSP would uphold the warranty. After all, they can deny the RMA if they find out that the PSU works as it is supposed to.
This is great quality PSU and you should've gone with it off the bat.
