Yeah, honestly, these days you really need to be cautious about the components, right? I was wondering if I should have built everything from scratch instead of this mess 🤣

Probably the first thing I did after the bios flash was again after the processor swap too.
Honestly, if my 1050 Ti and 5 2400g have held up this long, I’m planning to keep this build for years. I just want to ensure it stays as stable as possible, and if it means getting a decent PSU, then that’s fine, guess?

if the shutdown was triggered by PSU protection, the power button wouldn't function unless you switch the PSU switch.
if the power button remains operational after shutdown, then the mainboard's protection mechanism activated, which may result from issues with power delivery or overheating.

That's a valid observation.
@ OP, perhaps I overlooked something. The type of motherboard I'm using might be relevant. If the VRM or power phases on the motherboard aren't strong enough, it could lead to similar problems.

power button functions after shutdown without needing a psu reset. I recorded temperatures using speedfan seconds before stopping (while gaming), with the gpu near 82°C and cpu around 54°C. I’m not sure yet, but i’ll check further. afterburner caps the gpu at 83°C.

mainboard temps should be minimal, hwinfo will indicate them
gpu/cpu temps will only reduce performance
verify 24pin and 8pin cpu connectors for proper insertion and absence of burn marks

it's an ASRock A320M-DVS R3.0, a fairly outdated model, yet it's running the newest BIOS, and I'm not sure what caused the issue after swapping the CPU.

The VRM on that motherboard is quite weak, offering only 4+2 power phases. Although it shouldn't stop the CPU from functioning, I wouldn't use PBO with it, as it might be contributing to the problem.
