Hi, I recently tried a major upgrade on my gaming PC, but after everything was set up it doesn’t seem to recognize both HDDs together. Sometimes it works with one HDD using the other cable or port, but I’m not sure what’s wrong and want to figure it out. I’ve updated my BIOS too. The ports are located behind the GPU, making it hard to access them. This is my first time building or upgrading a PC, so I’m feeling disappointed and a bit confused. If anyone has any advice, I’d really appreciate it. I’ve been working on this for many hours and sometimes changing the cables helps, but I’m not sure why that happens.

Specs:
- Ryzen 7 5800X3D
- Asus B550 Plus WiFi
- 4070 Super Ti
- 32 GB RAM
- 4TB HDD + 2TB HDD, 2 TB SSD, plus a 500GB boot drive SSD.

With an SSD installed in one of the M.2 slots (M.2_2), it will block one of your SATA ports. Refer to page x in the user manual.

I also have it in the m.2 slot! This might be the right place and I didn’t realize it could be this way! The answer might simply be to keep testing different drives. In fact, I now have two m.2 SSDs, so I should look for the available SATA ports that still function.

Review the guide. It contains details about the non-functional SATA port. Page x. Use alternative ports instead.

Alright thank you. I did look at the page but I struggle to interpret it a bit, (I’m not super tech minded). I’ll just try the other ports.

From the guide, it seems the SATA ports are assigned numbers on the motherboard. M.2_2 uses bandwidth with SATA6G_56, but once M.2_2 is set up, that connection will be turned off.
