Question PC crashes and restarts while using GTAV Legacy/Enhanced or RAGEMP Server Client?
Playing only GTAV with the multiplayer mod called ragemp (https://rage.mp/). I'll also experience system reboots during regular GTAV online play and occasionally in singleplayer, though less frequently.
I observed it crashes more frequently when there are other applications running (such as Edge with multiple tabs and Discord or Spotify). When the game is the only one active, I can sometimes get through. Also, repeatedly closing and reopening tabs causes a restart.
I realize this reply has been a while since your question, but I’ve gotten occupied and now have some time to play games. I started RAGEMP and encountered the same problem that’s been troublesome for my PC.
I ran a memtest85 over four passes, taking a total of 3 hours and 30 minutes, and it came back clean with no errors.
Now OCCT is running, and I’m ready to run every test on it—GPU, Power, and CPU—to see if I can reproduce the crashes. I’m thinking about whether replacing any component would be worth it, whether it’s the CPU, RAM, or Power Supply (though I’m glad it’s not the RAM anymore, as it’s quite costly these days).
Game log:
Conan Exiles: No issues at all
hours of gameplay (my favorite game)
Arc Raiders: No problems
GTAV: Crashing issues occur, but less often than RAGEMP
GTAV online: Crashing issues happen, but not as often as RAGEMP
GTAV /w RAGEMP: Crashing issues are frequent on every server I log into :X
The CPU test returned no errors after an hour using the extreme setting in OCCT. Other component tests might be useful. I just installed Windows 11 yesterday and noticed that ragemp crashed within five minutes after downloading the server files and starting the game. I'm also watching some overclocking videos and wondering if ASROCK managed to do it on its own. Thank you for your help.
I changed the Rockstar Launcher settings by turning off battleeye, which isn’t required for ragemp. This allowed me to play for more than an hour without any of the original problems, including having my hyper-v VMs running and using the browser during gameplay. I’m hoping this resolved the issue. 🤞
If I don’t reply here again, I assume it worked.
I wondered if Rockstar servers needed BattleEye to enable multiplayer in GTA V?
I’ve tested using Prime95 with large FFTs—it consistently reveals unstable memory timing or clocks, even when other checks like memtest don’t.
