Question Overclocking Intel Atom CPU on Dell Latitude 2120?
I own a Dell Latitude 2120 with Intel Atom N455, Intel NM10, FCBGA559, Intel GMA3150. I've tried various overclocking programs and still face issues like SMbus errors or PLL byte errors. Two different clock generator settings didn't help either. I'm curious if anyone has experience with this setup. I know others who managed it, and I suspect luck played a role since one friend had a 4GB RAM stick for the 2120, which supposedly has a 2GB limit. I'm using Windows 7 Ultra 32-bit. Thanks.
You won't be able to push the performance beyond normal limits on an OEM system like the Dell Latitude 2120. Manufacturers restrict these settings to avoid warranty or replacement complications. The only real exceptions are in certain gaming models such as the Gam3r series (Dell Alienware, HP Omen, etc.). The Atom N455 doesn't support significant overclocking either, and even a full overclock on this relatively old 1c/2t processor won't make it practical.
