i attempted to overclock my 8gb kit with 2133mhz ram. initially, i set it to 2400mhz and left voltage and timings auto; the system booted fine. when i increased it to 2666mhz, the boot failed. is there anything else i should try or does this represent the upper limit for my ram?

Have you considered raising the DRAM voltage? I wouldn't exceed 1.4v dram voltage. Also, ensure the RAM stays cool. I recommend searching for an online tutorial.

no i left voltage on auto.. is there any risk of damaging the ram if i proceed.the ram is stock at 1.2v

Raise the voltage from auto to reach farther distances.
Be aware of the danger of harming RAM during overclocking.
Maintain voltage and temperature control, ensuring RAM is fully stable for proper operation.
