Hi
I’m interested in purchasing an Intel Core i7 2600K mainly for overclocking purposes. However, my motherboard doesn’t provide much information about this board. I’ve searched various pages but found limited details.

My questions:
Inside the Setup Bios there’s a Performance setup where I can adjust the CPU ratio and individual cores. I currently have an i5 3330 (3.0–3.2 GHz). I’m unsure if I can increase the CPU ratio beyond 30x, especially since I can only go up to 30x in my i5. If I upgrade to an i7 2600K, will I still be able to adjust the CPU ratio? Why can’t I exceed 30x with my i5?

I reviewed the motherboard manual, which says the Performance mode allows overclocking but only warns about temperature limits. Many OC tutorials exist, yet they don’t cover my BIOS setup.

BIOS: Biostar H61MGV3 Ver 7.1
RAM: DDR3 2x4GB at 1600 MHz
Processor: Intel Core i5 3330
Graphics: GTX 960
Power: 650W 80+
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master 212 Black Edition

What I'm discussing is
Image
I can adjust the CPU Ratio above 30 but it doesn't alter; if I set it to 35 or 9999, it won't let me change it back to 30

If I purchase an i7 2600k or 3770k, I won't be able to adjust the CPU ratio significantly since voltage changes aren't possible.

oh. you're looking for a "Z" board to overclock a third-gen CPU like the Z68 or Z77, right?

I doubt I can adjust the CPU ratio using a K processor.
