Question: Old Hard Drive in New Hardware?
Question: Old Hard Drive in New Hardware?
I'm evaluating an upgrade since my current PC isn't compatible with Windows 11. Moving the Win 10 drive to a new machine might cause driver issues, but it should work without full reinstallation. Upgrading Win 10 to 11 would be simpler and avoid reconfiguring everything. If you have any suggestions for a decent budget mini PC, I'd appreciate hearing them. I'm not a gamer; this is mainly for work tasks like emails, office apps, and browsing the web. I'd prefer a model in the lower range but ideally one with a bit more power than what I currently have.
Oh, there are going to be issues.
Three potential results:
1. It functions perfectly
2. It fails entirely
3. It seems to work, but you're dealing with problems for weeks or months.
The more different the hardware is, the lower the chances it will operate smoothly.
And if your system isn't up-to-date enough to run Windows 11, then the hardware gap will be significant.
Might be good to start a new thread for this. More will respond. Do give a max budget for the hardware. A pc from one of the bigger names or local system builders will likely suffice unless you want to be sure what you have in it and maybe want to keep upgrade possibilities open.
