The game mentioned causes a fatal error when saved on NVME, while it works without issues on SATA HDD and other games on the same NVME. Initially suspected a corrupted save file, but clearing it and disabling Steam Cloud didn’t help. Moving it to an HDD resolved the problem but introduced long loading times. Seeking possible causes for this inconsistency.

In the sequence or if you turned off cloud first, deleting save before disabling cloud would cause the same corrupted save issue again.

I did both ways. Deleted, then turned off cloud was first. The second time I turned off cloud and deleted the saves, but the problem remained.

There's a bit on Reddit about corrupt saves and what people have tried. Probably best just to reinstall the game to the drive you want it on.
