Question "No bootable media" - NVMe SSD not recognized as a bootable drive?
Hey everyone,
I replaced my PSU because the old one was bad, and now my PC won't boot. After clearing the CMOS, the BIOS sees the NVME drive in the BIOS but can't treat it as a bootable device. This is the only storage drive on the motherboard with Windows 10 installed. I used diskpart from a Windows 10 installation USB, and it's a non-GPT drive. My motherboard is an ASRock B450M Steel Legend with a Ryzen 5600x, and the BIOS is up to date. It works fine when running without CSM enabled or disabled—it doesn't recognize it as bootable media. Anyone have suggestions? Cheers
A "No bootable media" error might arise if the NVMe drive isn't detected. Common causes and fixes include:
Adjusting boot order so the NVMe drive appears first in BIOS.
Verifying the presence of a boot partition on the NVMe drive and ensuring it's marked as active.
Ensuring the NVMe driver is compatible with your system and properly installed.
Updating or reinstalling the NVMe driver if necessary.
Repairing or cloning the NVMe drive in case it's corrupted.
Replacing the drive if it's physically damaged.
What model of M.2 drive was used?
Which M.2 slot was it installed in?
Can I boot from the Windows installation media and display the output of the following commands?
(upload screenshot to imgur.com and post link)
diskpart
list disk
select disk 0
list partition
list volume
If Windows is installed in legacy mode (MBR-based), then CSM cannot be disabled.
A similar issue occurred... swapping drives on older computers. The former C: drive was reinstalled in the original PC, but it didn’t load. How can I access the boot sequence when the system doesn’t recognize the C: drive? Thanks.
