Question: New PSU and 4090 GPU installed, PC stuck in reset cycle. Guidance required.
I own an ASROCK Z390 Phantom 9 i9-9900K
with 2 Corsair DDR4 sticks
a Corsair PSU 860i
and a 1080ti
This system was functioning perfectly.
Recently, I upgraded to a 4090 Suprim X with a Corsair 1200W PSU and a larger case.
After swapping the two components in the new case back to the old ones, the PC entered a reset loop that didn’t reach BIOS.
It just turned off and on again without any response.
I’ve tried reinstalling the old parts, switching PSUs and GPUs, removing the CMOS to reset, but nothing works.
The issue persists even when reverting to the original components.
Could anyone explain what might have caused this and how to fix it?
Thank you in advance.
I changed the case? Did you share the updated version without the original case?
Unless there was a mistake, you could have been affected by static electricity on the device.
When you reset the CMOS, did you disconnect the power cable from the wall?
Thanks for your response
Im not sure what you mean by post with the new mix outside the case.
Yes I moved the mobo with the CPU and rams on it into the new case, along with the new PSU.
jus took it out of one as is and moved it into the other case and plugged everything.
I believe with 90% certainty that the power cord wasnt plugged when I removed the CMOS, but it was yesterday and I cannot be 100% sure.
By zapped are you suggesting the board is dead, or is there a way to "unzap" it
😀
Outside the case refers to placing it on a mat, preferably an anti-static one or a cardboard box, which should work as well. If it doesn't turn on again after resetting the CMOS, it's likely permanently damaged. RIP.
I removed the motherboard completely, leaving the CPU, cooler, and RAM intact, and transferred it into a new case. I also connected the new PSU. Could this new PSU have led to any problems? I’m hoping it’s fixable.
I don't understand what you're referring to, but I connected the PSU to the motherboard. Thanks for your feedback.
