Question New Build "Hanging Up"?
Question New Build "Hanging Up"?
Hey there! I hope everything is going well with you all.
I just assembled a computer with the following components:
Processor: MB - Gigabyte X670 AORUS Elite AX
Power Supply: Corsair HX1000i
Graphics Card: MSI RTX 3070TI
CPU: Ryzen 9 7900X
Cooler: Corsair H150i Elite
RAM: GSKILL Trident Z 16x2 at 6000Mhz
Operating System: Windows 11 Pro
Storage: 980 Evo 2TB M.2 SSD
My PC occasionally "intermittently" (every 7 minutes or not at all) will freeze or stop working for a short time. During these moments, my USB devices lose power for less than a second, the RGB lights on my RAM turn off, and the water cooler shuts down too. This happens briefly before everything returns to normal.
I ran an SFC check and found nothing. I’ve done memory integrity tests but still no results. I’ve also noticed that when using a Bluetooth device—like a controller—the PC won’t reconnect its Bluetooth until I restart the system. Windows 11 even reports no Bluetooth available on this machine.
Anyone have suggestions on how to troubleshoot this issue?
Thanks in advance.
What BIOS version are you using for your motherboard? When the problem arises, use HWMonitor to track temperatures and identify any unusual readings. Consider adjusting the mount on the AIO and see if the issue continues.
Did you mention this was a new build? Have you replaced the older OS drive?
PSU - Corsair HX1000i
How many years old is the PSU?
Running the command prompt reveals my BIOS version is labeled as "F5". I'm hesitant about updating the BIOS since some comments suggest newer versions might be better. I plan to download HWMonitor and let you know if anything stands out. The build is only two months old, and my old PC is now in the lady's office. The PSU and other components are also just two months old. Would a hotter than average 7900X suggest loosening the AIO mount? Should I proceed with updating the BIOS despite the negative feedback I've seen? Thank you for your advice and expertise.
Certainly, after posting this, it usually takes three days for the problem to reappear again (this has been the most extended wait).
Reviewed the event viewer and encountered an error during the "hangup":
Application name: GCC.exe, version 23.3.21.1, timestamp 0x8c20eafd
Module name: ntdll.dll, version 10.0.22621.1485, timestamp 0xb7f0154a
Exception code: 0xc0000374
Fault offset: 0x000000000010be19
Process ID: 0x0x644C
Start time: 0x0x1D97399BE7E079A

Module path: C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll
Report ID: bc710824-0641-4d56-8de5-ad32dafc3094
Faulting package name: Full relative application ID
I’m not familiar with the event viewer, so I’m uncertain about the details.
I removed GCC to hopefully resolve the hangup issue.
I’ll follow up once another problem arises.
So far looking great on temps.
I am wondering if its my OS install. Verifying files it looks fine but I did get a WDF violation bluescreen error yesterday for the first time.
