A possible issue might be linked to the install pack. Your card appears to be marked as compatible. Nvidia isn't pushing you to purchase a replacement card. If this were true, they would have removed driver support entirely.

I own a Nvidia GTX 1080 and the visuals are excellent. The main issue is that Nvidia no longer supports updates. I understand how upgrading to a better card could enhance performance.

It's fairly typical. Manufacturers usually can't keep producing or fixing drivers indefinitely for outdated technology.

GTX 10 cards are near the end of driver support and are probably being phased out soon. It doesn’t make sense to purchase one right now. A better choice would be an RTX 2060 Super or an RTX 2070 that isn’t a Super. I think these two offer solid performance for a budget build. They’re similar to a non-Ti 1080 in terms of specs, not too costly, and come with more features. They’ll also stay supported longer than the 1080. I’ve seen Titan Xp cards for $150 on eBay, but I’d still avoid them—the 4060 Ti is faster, the 16GB model has more RAM, and it uses less power. Pascal is likely to retire soon. Two years ago you might have argued for their use, but that’s no longer a valid point.

Yes, the card should function properly with the latest supported driver. It's not surprising that it's 8 years old. Updates don't always stick around.
