Question My new pc ethernet address
Hi guys, just installed a new system with Ryzen 5 5600X, motherboard gig b550 x v2, 32 gig ddr4 and two GeForce GTX 1060x3gb. It’s working fine except for my Ethernet – I thought I’d get 6G, but it seems off. When checking the address, it shows VM9357825, but it should be VM9357825_EXT. I’m only getting 1G speed now. I’ve searched for a Wi-Fi connection on the PC, but it’s not there. What am I doing wrong? Or is this normal? I have a long Ethernet cable from my router upstairs, so I wasn’t expecting mega speed. It just seems like the _EXT at the end. It wasn’t like before when I rebuilt it – everything was normal with just a standard Ethernet name. Cheers, Sean
Yeah but I don’t have an extender attached. I’ve got an Ethernet cable and it’s showing up as Ethernet in the bottom right corner. I searched for an internal Wi-Fi on the PC but couldn’t find anything. I do have an extender in the hall, and it has an extension called that. But I’m not sure how to delete it and connect to the main connection for 6G speed. I don’t know why it’s calling itself like that when I unplug the Ethernet cable—it disconnects from the internet, so there’s no Wi-Fi on the motherboard. Why is it doing that?
It might be the Ethernet cable, possibly damaged. Do you have another one? Is it a Cat 5 or Cat 6 connection? Also, try disconnecting the extender completely and check if the speed improves?
