Question Mouse issue or motherboard concern?
Question Mouse issue or motherboard concern?
I've used a Steelseries Rival 106 mouse for a few years now. Recently it would jitter and disconnect for about a second before reconnecting. Sometimes it even stops completely, especially when the mouse pointer is in the middle of the screen and you can't move it, no matter which USB port you use. The only fix seems to be restarting the PC. It's worth noting that plugging in another mouse during this time doesn't help, but using a different one works perfectly without any issues (though it's still not ideal). I've also ordered a Cooler Master MM711 mouse, but I'm unsure if it's a motherboard or mouse problem.
Update your post to mention the full hardware details and operating system information.
Consider manually downloading the mouse drivers from the manufacturer's site, reinstalling, and adjusting settings as needed. Avoid third-party tools.
Run the built-in Windows troubleshooters—they might resolve issues.
Use "dism" and "sfc /scannow" to check for corrupted files.

Also, try using a different known working mouse and test it on another functional computer.
Check if the problems occur with the mouse itself or persist with the computer.
I use Windows 10 22H2, h61m-e mb, i7-2600k, 1660 super, 16gb ram. 250ssd, 1tb hdd. Windows updates drivers automatically, but there’s no option in the Steelseries GG app or elsewhere. I tried troubleshooting. The issue happened when I couldn’t use any mouse on the PC, but it worked on a laptop—mouse RGB lights up and connects, though I can’t move it. Even swapping USB ports didn’t help. It functions normally on the laptop, sometimes on the PC too, with no jitters or disconnections. I’ve updated Windows and other drivers; everything seems fine now, but I’ll keep testing.
Windows manages its own software and standard drivers.
Updating device drivers falls to end users.
Device Manager helps locate the drivers in use.
Powershell is another option.
